HomeLab

HomeLab is an innovative residential testing and co-innovation environment designed for smart home services. It serves as both a laboratory and a functional two-story house, offering individuals the opportunity to temporarily reside and experiment with IoT and AI services. HomeLab facilitates the entire innovation process, spanning from ideation and early proof-of-concept testing to pre-pilot trials within an authentic living setting, encompassing various application domains such as home automation, healthcare, energy management, social robotics, audiovisual technologies, AR/VR, and more.

The infrastructure of HomeLab features technical passageways, concealed flooring, and ceilings, enabling the seamless integration of new devices and prototypes while maintaining a natural interaction with the services under development and testing. An extensive array of sensors captures vital contextual data, including temperature, air quality, energy consumption, user presence, among others, facilitating comprehensive analysis of the conducted experiments.

The integration of an open home automation system empowers users to control and monitor all functional components, such as HVAC, window coverings, switches, doors, and windows. Additionally, all sensor and actuator data are securely stored in a scalable data platform, ensuring access to real-time and historical information.
